Catilina II

Catilina II
To Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen

Lonely guy would never lie,
Self-initiated in the spiral diving,
Surviving, surely not thriving,
Finding new and uncertain all I try.

Off of everything, I feel free,
Lost in the vertigo of this age,
But latent beating of the city
Returns me to reality, to the cage.

I'm an arrow flung into deep space
Without target, doomed for Infinity,
Unsafe in a destiny I do not trace.
A throbbing energy, an inner shout,
Depleting and casting shadows I embrace
Endless loop, but always out.
